ARCHAEOLOGY

In 1998 the Brooklyn College Archaeological Research Center began a long-term archaeological project at the Lott House.

Archaeology is an opportunity to learn about people and places that don’t make it into history books. It focuses on the lost or broken materials people discarded or left behind and the structures they created.

Over 65,000 artifacts and structures associated with the Lott House’s history as a large farm have been found. These materials represent the Lott family, enslaved persons and their descendants, and immigrant workers over the course of 250+ years.
