Basement

The basement appears to have originally been divided into 5 separate rooms. It features six-foot high ceilings, white washed foundation walls, six windows, two entrances to the outside of the house and two to the first floor of the house. There are three barrel vaults which support the fireplaces in the house.

This slatted wall is a typical 18th century construction technique that was used in the 19th century portion of the house.

The double mortise and tenon joint is another typical 18th century construction feature . This too was used in the 19th century portion of the house.
