Lott House Exterior Restoration

Pre-Restoration

Restoration Photos

The first phase of the restoration was to remove the pre-existing windows. These will be rennovated using original or historically accurate materials. Removing the windows facilitates their rennovation and ensures that work can continue during cold weather at the shop.

The Lott House porches were serverly deteriorated. Though every effort was made to preserve original materials the porches are being diassembled and will be reconstructed with historically accurate materials.
As part of the restoration all of the pre-existing exterior paint has been removed from the house. Fortunately a majority of the original cedar shakes were able to be retained. In some cases new hand hewn shakes have replaced those that were too damaged to preserve. The new shakes can easily be seen in the photo.
Workmen found an arched window that had been covered up on the rear facade of the house.
